Sustainability is the basis of our corporate philosophy and our business strategy. By renting out fully electric and hybrid locomotives, we make a daily contribution to shifting traffic from road to rail and thus reducing greenhouse gas emissions in passenger and freight transport.
We strive to make rail transport even more efficient and environmentally sustainable by
A first estimate shows that our business activities save more direct greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions than they cause, by avoiding road transport related emissions. We aim at increasing GHG emissions avoided by leased locomotives by at least 3% per year. This target is one of several ESG targets as of our sustainability strategy 2030.
We are convinced that rail plays a key role in the sustainable transport of people and goods and will do so in the future. We are aware of our responsibility in this regard and are aware of both the positive and negative impacts of rail transport on the environment.
We are committed to complying with all applicable laws and regulations on environmental protection. In addition to regulatory requirements, we are committed to promoting environmental protection measures within our sphere of influence, particularly regarding greenhouse gas emissions and air quality, energy efficiency, material and resource efficiency and waste management. The associated targets and measures are set out in our environmental policy and in our sustainability report.
We aim to raise awareness among employees about the careful use of resources and energy efficiency and are committed to continuous improvement. We acknowledge our responsibility to further reduce our corporate carbon footprint with the aim of reaching Net-Zero by 2050.
Our employees are the foundation of economic success. Therefore, the health, safety and well-being of our employees have top priority and are anchored in our sustainability strategy.
Our goal is to create and maintain a permanently safe, healthy, trouble-free and pleasant work environment for employees. The overall target is to be a great place to work for people of all genders, age, religions, colors and cultural background.
To achieve these goals, we are establishing a corporate culture that is based on appreciation, trust and openness. We have taken appropriate measures to create the best working conditions for employees and have been recognized by “Great Place To Work®” for our efforts two times in a row.
Our targets and measures for employee satisfaction, low accident rate, diversity in the team and equal pay for equal work can be found in our sustainability report.
We follow a value-based corporate culture that shapes our business practices and growth philosophy. Thanks to dedicated commitment and with the goal of offering our customers the best possible service, we have become a preferred partner in the rail industry. We have earned our excellent reputation through good business conduct and the outstanding efforts of our employees. We have captured our value-oriented corporate and business culture in the Code of Conduct for employees.
To avoid corruption or any incidents that would constitute a violation of our Code of Conduct, particularly incidents of corruption and bribery, our employees receive regular business ethics and compliance training. Our Compliance Officer is responsible for the training and monitoring of compliance with the Code of Conduct and internal policies.
One of our key concerns is the protection of information systems and data privacy. Especially for employees and business partners, we ensure handling of information with absolute confidentiality. We continuously invest in information security measures to ensure the best possible protection of our information systems and the processed data.
We have published our targets and measures to ensure compliant and ethical business practices and information security in our current sustainability report.
For our business partners (customers, suppliers, financial institutions, investors), the principles of our value-based corporate culture and the resulting business practices are laid down in the “Code of Code of Conduct for Business Partners”. We expect our business partners to comply with and act according to the principles.
We invite employees and business partners to raise concerns or suspected incidents of violation of ELL’s Code of Conduct or applicable laws and regulations anonymously via our Whistleblower Platform.
